Sales Representative

As a member of the Vulcan sales team, your goal will be to increase sales by way of acquiring new customers, the further development and increased sales from existing customers and retaining existing customers by offering superior customer service.
Responsibilities Include:
- Train to develop a thorough working knowledge of Vulcan’s products and services, internal procedures and computer systems.
- Work directly with existing customer accounts as well as developing new prospective customer accounts.
- Assist in maintaining a sustainable marketing effort comprised of prospecting, cold calling, direct mail and email campaigns.
- Respond to incoming customer inquiries, accurately estimate, generate and submit bid proposals in a timely manner with the use of Vulcan’s computerized job quoting system.
- Follow up on all outstanding bid proposals, address any questions or concerns customers may have and close deals.
- Generate computerized shop order documents that will be used by operations to produce orders to the customer’s exact specifications.
- Shop materials and issue purchase orders for materials required in the production of customer orders.
- Participate in daily production meetings; monitor the progress of customer’s orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Maintaining customer and vendor information in Vulcan’s Marketing & Quote System software and Purchase Order software.
- Complete and submit any sales call sheets or requests from management.
- Meet or exceed sales goals
Qualifications:
- Must be reliable.
- Quick learner and self-motivated.
- Great communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, basic data entry skills).
- Aptitude for sales, logistics and manufacturing.
- Proven inside sales experience and phone sales would be a plus.
- Any knowledge of steel pipe and tube specifications would be a plus.
- Four-year degree preferred
Compensation:
The Compensation package will include salary plus bonus. Salary is based on education, qualifications and experience. Benefits include retirement (with 3% company matching) and paid holidays and vacation.

Shop Floor Worker

The Shop Floor Worker position is the entry-way into Vulcan’s shop. This position provides steady, reliable pay while you learn to work in a shop environment. If you prove yourself to be reliable, you show initiative and have a mechanical aptitude, you will have opportunities to advance to Machine Operator.
Responsibilities Include:
- Train and become efficient at expediting and processing product on the shop floor.
- Load and unload LTL vans and flatbed trailers using forklifts and overhead cranes.
- General housekeeping.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a shop environment is a plus.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes is helpful.
- Vulcan considers this an entry-level job and requires no previous experience. Vulcan will supply complete training through apprenticeship.
Other Requirements:
- Must have dependable transportation
- Must pass drug screen and E-verify
- Must speak English, bilingual (Spanish) a plus
Hours:
Day Shift Hours:
Normal: 7AM to 5PM (9.5 hours)
Extended: 5AM to 5PM (11.5 hours)
Night Shift Hours:
Normal: 5PM to 3AM (9.5 hours)
Extended: 5PM to 5AM (11.5 hours)
Compensation:
Vulcan offers a competitive hourly rate for Shop Floor Workers. Compensation includes holiday and vacation pay and retirement (with 3% company matching). Prove yourself reliable and show initiative and your hard work will be recognized and rewarded. We typically recruit and train all our Fin Machine Operators from our Shop Floor Workers.
Fin Machine Operator

Vulcan typically recruits Fin Machine Operators from its existing pool of Shop Floor Workers. This gives our Shop Floor Workers a clear path for advancement. However, if you have extensive shop or machine operating experience you may be a good candidate for Fin Machine Operator. This position provides steady, reliable pay and many Fin Machine Operators advance by mastering other types of machinery or becoming Fin Machine Operators / Trainers.
Responsibilities Include:
- Train on one of Vulcan’s proprietary machines
- Become efficient at setting up, trouble shooting and running machines and meeting production quotas
- Feed raw materials to and from machine by way of forklift and overhead crane
- Clean and maintain machines at end of shift and report problems to management
- Assist in loading and unloading trucks by way of forklift and overhead crane
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a shop environment
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes is helpful
- Experience operating light machinery such as band saws, welders, presses, punches or mills is a plus
- Since the machines are proprietary and custom built, there is no previous experience that fully translates. Vulcan will supply complete training through apprenticeship.
